The New York State Volunteer Firefighter's Bowling Association was established in 1957. Our Mission is to promote volunteer firefighter camaraderie through the sport of bowling. We sponsored our first Handicap & Championship Tournament in 1958. A designated fire department or company hosts all tournaments at a local bowling center.  Funds raised through raffles and the sales of memorabilia at these tournaments remain with the host fire department or company to help offset their operating expenses. The United States Bowling Congress and the host’s local bowling association sanction all of our tournaments.

Letter from the President:

Welcome to all our returning bowlers and to those who are joining us for the first time, a very special welcome. As my term winds down I have one more important job to do and that is to oversee the Association's sponsorship of the 55th annual tournament. I would like to thank, in advance, our host companies, Newark, Marbletown and Fairville Fire Departments for working so hard this past year so they can provide our participants an exceptional time. A thank you goes to the host lanes, Doug Kent's Rose Bowl who for sure will give the bowlers a lane shot they have to think about to compete. Most important I thank you, the bowlers, without your continued support and participation our tournaments would not have been so successful for so many years.

So bowlers pass the word around and let's have a tremendous increase in entries this year. The more we have the greater the prize fund. I am looking forward to seeing many familiar faces and meeting new participants.

Good Luck and Good Bowling

Joseph Carucci

President

Letter from the Tournament Manager:

It can't be that time of year again, I just finished closing the books on last year's tournament. The applications have been coming in and as it looks now we seem to be doing better then last year at this time. Therefore, I thank you, the bowlers, for getting the word out. Remember our tournament has one of the lowest entry fees for its size and the prize fund is 100% returned. I do ask that when you submit your application please print the names, as registered with USBC and please no nicknames, everyone wants to see their name in lights spelled right. Captains, make sure your address is legible. If you or your team wins any prizes I have to know were to mail the funds. Most important your application must have each bowlers USBC card number. It is the only way we can verify averages and not have confusion at check in time. Well its back to processing more applications. See you all at the tournament.

May your score sheet be filled with nothing but strikes

Jack Tobey

Tournament Manager

Helpful tips for check in:

Captains please arrive at least 45 minutes to an hour prior to your squad start time to receive your lane assignment or to make any corrections. Be it you or your designee, please have only one person check in and verify application information. Confusion starts when everyone from a team trys to get involved.

Have your entry number, applications are filed by number and much eaiser to locate then by Company, Department or Team Name.

If changes are to be made have all the information availible, Name, proper spelling, Average and USBC Card Number.

Remember a bowler add on fills the position of the bowler being removed in the line up. Any change to line up order or partner pairing will be up to the Tournament Manager.

Lane assignments are made at the discretion of the Tournament Manager when applications are processed. Please try to refrain from asking for special placement. This only adds to the confusion and increased time factor at check in.

Thank you.
